Ok so we moved into my grandmothers house last month (she passed in June 2010) and lately we have noticed a few little odd occurances going on.

First noticably odd thing is our cell phones never stay where we put them. As in, we put them on the table and walk away and come back and are on the floor about three feet away. It doesn't matter where we put the phones either. We thought at first the cat or the kids played with them (it happens to both hubbies and my phone) but we were up late watching a movie saturday night and after the movie was done we both got up to turn the movie off and get ready for bed. The cat was in the bathroom sleeping and the kids were in bed. We come back through the living room into the kitchen to get a drink and our phones were in the middle of the floor.

We can not think of a logical explination for this either. We live in a solid stone house that doesnt vibrate from the train track down the block (we tested this theory already) Everything we could possibly think of we have tested and everything is inconclusive!

second odd thing is that the front door knob will try to turn on its own. First couple times we thought it was the neighbor kids trying to come over but nobody was outside and the screen door never opened. but you could litterally see the door knob moving like someone is on the other side trying to turn it!

So yeah....that is my little odd things going on in the new houseBlueoh

I've started a journal to record times and how often it happens to see if I can notice a pattern!

What is your guys opinions?
My opinion? Grandma's home!

But that's just me. I believe our loved one's often stay with us or in comfortable places...such as their own homes.

Definatley keep debunking, but there's always the possibility that you are not alone. I wouldn't worry at all, especially knowing the homes' history.
Well what I do know is that Grandma and Grandpa bought the home in 1960. The house was built in the mid-20's and was a one owner home untill my Grandparents bought it.

There has been so much moving and what not going on in there since Grandma died with clearing out her stuff and all that jazz.

It doesnt feel scary (not to me anyway...I practically grew up in that house) and Mike being the sensitive that he is (he can see/sense spirit and or energy activity) doesnt feel anything menevolant (sp?)

I'll keep you all updated!!!
Witchmom - How do you feel about these occurances happening? Do you feel comfortable with it? I always believe that spirits like to visit/remain at places they loved in life, so it makes sense your Gran would want to stay at her home - and also be with you.

Keep a note of it all is a good idea - and I'd love to hear if anything else happens! Smile
Well, to be honest, I'm a bit (not much) creeped out by the occurances but the house doesnt give me a creepy feeling if that makes any sense.

Hubby doesn't feel its Gma but he can't be sure since he's been sick lately.

I may just use this thread as sort of a journal to see if others can see a pattern or just get some advice!

I will keep you updated for sure!
One thing to consider...a metal bolt attached to the doorknob can be jarred by things such as high winds or any kind of pressure put on it. If the bolt goes in, the doorknob will turn. A gap between the door frame and the doorknob can make this happen more frequently, as the bolt is fairly short...so be sure and look at that.

I don't know how old the door and doorknob are..but we had some in the house I grew up in that would do that. At the time, I didn't know anything about what to look for as far as natural explanations..but I do know they were very old doors with the original doorknobs.

I also believe that if spirits exist (in my opinion, they do)...they are drawn to places for specific reasons. Maybe Grandma is letting you know that she is still around. I definitely think it is a good idea to document and keep a thread going for it. CMF has done this, and he has often encouraged people to start their own threads to document activity. It's a great place to get feedback and keep track!
I will definatly test that theory out the next day its windy! Its an old door/knob but new heavy screen door in front of it so its pretty tight about staying put during heavy winds but you never know!

I will make sure to mark down the weather conditions when the door occurance happens!
Door knob occurance happened about 10:15 last night. I was the only one up at the time, I was laying on the couch watching TV (couch is by the door) with the kitty on my tummy and the door knob started to turn.

No wind outside and no train noise at that time. The screen door was shut and locked so Its a mystery to me.

Now it is an old door and knob (which is loose) but I don't see what could cause it to physically turn. Smiley ?

I'm still trying to figure out just how to debunk this. We are replacing the door knob this weekend so I will keep you posted if it keeps occuring
In your post you said you were clearing out Grandma's stuff. Did these incidents start occurring after you cleared out her things?

For the most part. We've only lived in the house for a month but my family (on that side) has seen many untimely deaths over the years. Grandma's house was always a happy place but the poor woman bore the pain of loosing a husband, her oldest daughter and her youngest child (my dad).

I know she would be tickled pink that I have her house now because she wanted nothing more but for it to stay in the family.

Its not scary (yet) just more of a startle if you know what I mean?
